GOLF TROUT 2024 – September 6, 7 and 8, 2024.

You’re invited to join us in beautiful Steamboat Springs and the Yampa Valley for a fun, three-day fund-raising golf and fly-fishing tournament.

We’re a 501(c)3 organization which uses all funds raised through the tournament to foster numerous stream improvement projects in the Yampa Valley and northwest Colorado.

You’ll enjoy great fishing and golfing with old and new friends while contributing to the restoration of a very special stretch of our local water. So, everyone is a winner in this tournament!

A busy weekend of Events

Before the tournament

Arrive early and fish the Yampa, Elk and surrounding waters to get tuned up. Get your gear dialed in at one of the outstanding local fly shops. They have been the backbone of this tournament throughout its history, providing water access, guides, and great prize donations. They know the valley – and they’ve got the goods. They can help you with current fishing conditions, gear, fly selections and licenses.

Day 1 – Friday, September 6, 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

Welcome and Water Auction

This is the start of two fun-filled days of fly-fishing and golf.

The tournament kicks off Friday evening with the official check-in beginning at 5:00 p.m. There will be plenty of refreshments and hors d’oeuvres. Members of YVSICT and TU will be on hand along with the guides to answer your questions and to welcome your team to this great event. You’ll pick up your swag bag, filled with Golf Trout goodies.

During the evening we’ll have a live auction for some very special private water. This is our main fund-raising opportunity, so come prepared to open your wallets. After the auction, teams will be paired with their guide to assess equipment needs and to discuss winning fishing strategies.

Day 2 – Saturday September 7, All Day and into the evening

Guided Fly-Fishing on Private Water

Saturday consists of a full day of guided fly-fishing on some of the most exclusive private trout water in the Yampa Valley.

Your team will meet your guide at a location mutually agreed upon Friday night. Fishing officially starts at 8:00 a.m. and runs until 5:00 p.m. Your guide will bring lunches and limited beverages and is the official judge and scorekeeper for your team as you spend the day competing for top honors in the fishing category.

After fishing, your guide will turn in your score card to the tournament directors for official scoring and posting on the tournament scoreboard. You’ll have an opportunity to take a nap and get cleaned up before everyone meets for a festive banquet. There will be great food, fun, cocktails, a silent auction, and a bucket raffle. Fishing scores will be tallied, and the winning team for the fishing portion will be announced and prizes awarded.

REMEMBER: All the guides are donating their time for this tournament, so your generous tips are very welcome!

Day 3 – Sunday September 8, All Day

Golf on a championship course

The final day begins at 9:00 a.m. You’ll meet your fishing guide and enjoy coffee and pastries before heading to the driving range and practice green at one of our local private golf courses. You’ll also be able to purchase mulligans which may come in handy on the course.

At 10:00 a.m. you’ll tee off with a “shotgun scramble”. You’ll have opportunities to compete for the longest drive and closest to the pin and other fun events. Lunch is provided on the course.

After everyone completes 18 holes, the final awards and prizes are presented while everyone swaps fishing and golf tales.
